Going ons

So it’s been a while since an update so I thought I’d try and cram a few things together that have been going on.

The whole family made it down to Denver 2 weeks ago and we caught the Rapids final game this season against Real Salt Lake. They lost unfortunately in a game titles the Rockies division cup or some such in a tough 1-0 bout. We got to check out the new stadium where the Rapids play though which is actually a 24 field complex out here in Commerce City. We had some good seats and it was lot funner to watch the game up close compared to where I’d sat previously at Invesco field when they played downtown. We ate some overpriced hotdogs and shivered as a warm autumn afternoon with early highs in the 80s cooled down to near freezing and below with the windchill.

The rockies won the National League pennant and kind of took everyone by surprise around here. They then got the brilliant idea to offer 100% of the available World Series tickets by online purchase only. This caused some mini riots downtown from fans who thought, and rightfully so, that they should be able to pick up tickets from the box office at Coors Stadium. Tickets went on sale none-the-less online only and within about 10 minutes 8.9 million people crashed the ticket vendors servers. They gave it a go the next day with slightly better results. I work at a tier 1 ISP with a beefy connection to the Internet. I had 3 computers up and running with 5 web browsers and 5 credit cards standing by. I didn’t get 1 single ticket. A record amount of tickets ended up in scalpers hands though as opposed to the Rockie’s fans’ hands where they should have gone.

Loni celebrated her 24th birthday this last Saturday in combination with a costume party at our place. Good times were had by all and we put down some record amount of alcohol per capita in Commerce City that night. Matching costumes being all the rage with couples she was Little Bo Peep and I was fucking loving her sheep. Not as socially acceptable as last years Devil (Loni) and “Stoner Jesus” (me) costumes, but extra points for the inflatable sheep that was strapped to my… uh… waist the entire night; her name was Sheila.

Work continues to pile on more and more every week with an increasing customer demand for the managed global networks that my group supports along with bandwidth rising in demand all together. Conversely though our stock is at the lowest it’s been all year due to letting our CFO go along with less than projected 3rd quarter earnings. I’m still drinking the kool-aid though and buying up as much as I can afford through Christmas; 2008 will be a big year for us.

Still haven’t lost site of the big ideas out there waiting to be capitalized on and me and a buddy are trying to narrow down the list to the most realistic ones with the biggest payout. World domination is imminent.

Google on the other hand is working on moon domination to the cool tune of 20 million to the first team that land a robot on the moon, drive it around, and beam videos back to YouTube. Google will pay for the trip your little Robot needs as well.
