U.S.A.! U.S.A.! U.S.A.!
Yesterday really was America’s birthday as we finally brought home the gold in a sport we should’ve dominated from day one. That’s right, competitive eating and it’s main event of hot dog consumption. Joey Chestnut edged out ranking world champ Takeru Kobayashi at the Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating contest on Coney Island, NYC. They both broke world records and likely blew out their colons (if they actually held it all down) later that evening.
God bless you America. *tear*

Trimspa Baby!

Kris ask’eth and it became so…
As you may have heard, Anna Nicole Smith passed away dropped dead today at age 39. Mysteriously enough shortly after her 20 year old son passed and shortly after her recent federal appeals win. Foul Play? I’m guessing ephedrin. Also in the air is the paternity battle over her daughter. Rarely do you have fathers arguing paternity, but if Mom’s about to be loaded (condition downgraded to dead) I can see where a squabble could occur.
Drugs are bad, mmmkay?

ATHF

Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim recently had a media campaign to promote their kick ass show, Aqua Teen Hunger Force. How did the residents of Boston respond? They blew that shit up! You can google around for various stories, but I like Fox’s right-winged approach to journalism found here and here
Much more after the jump…

Posts from the Past
So I thought I’d start out with a handful of events from the past year or so that would’ve blogged about had SLB been up at those times. A sampler post if you will of things I would’ve found blog worthy. Things in South Dakota such as the foam party (official story) at Ellsworth air foce base in my home town, or perhaps I would’ve ranted on about Bill Napoli’s asshat comments of the year. Who can forget the little tower that could? More recently in Colorado Richard Dawkins (whom has been featured/parodied in even more recent South Park fame) did a documentary (link 2) on the nation’s largest(?) evangelical church in Colorado Springs that was headed up by recently dismissed meth smoking gay “massage” pastor Ted Haggard who apparently had weekly meetings with the president. Up to a national level I would’ve found Google’s acquisition of YouTube noteworthy, cause ya know, a website that’s in business for 18 months being bought for $1.65 billion is a personal dream of mine, and apparently makes the YouTube owners giddy as well. On a global view I would’ve let you know that I’m quite fascinated by all the development of Dubai. The tech side of me would’ve covered Wired’s Next Fest and expressed my eagerness for Nintendo’s Wii (Madden Preview) to launch. There probably would’ve been many more things to write about, but you get the idea.
So in the future I hope this will be a place where I can stay on top of current events and news items that interest me coupled with other interesting or amusing content, and of course to share a story or two. Thanks for stopping by, please do check back.
